One of the most difficult decisions that I have ever made in my life was to quit playing baseball back in high school. It wasn’t that I couldn’t compete at that level, but because the politics of the sport began to outweigh the joy that I had while playing. Essentially, I just wasn’t having fun anymore.
Thankfully, I was without an outlet for all my teenage angst and energy for no more than a week as I instantly began to play softball for my Dad’s Navy team –shout out to the 2007 USS Alaska (SSBN 732) Gold Crew.
It was not the same game as before, but it quickly became so much more enjoyable for me as I rediscovered my love for the sport. Instead of busting my ass day after day with practice, travel, and games, I was once again able to just enjoy myself on the baseball diamond.
