SpinLaunch
SpinLaunch is a startup developing a Looney Tunes new method of getting payloads into orbit without using traditional rockets. Instead, it spins projectiles at hypersonic speeds inside a vacuum-sealed centrifuge and then flings them into the sky like a sci-fi slingshot. Founded by Jonathan Yaney and backed by investors including Airbus and Google Ventures, the goal is to dramatically reduce the cost and environmental impact of space launches.
Chances of ending humanity: Minimal, unless someone decides to flip it around and point it at the Earth
