Usually when we talk about “old” and “Facebook,” it has to do with the wild things the old people are getting up to on Facebook.
But Facebook itself is getting up there in years. Originally launched 22 years ago on February 4, 2004, the site revolutionized what we now ubiquitously know today as “social media.”
And it has changed a lot in that time, too. Early adopters will remember back when it was called The Facebook, that is until Justin Timberlake said hey maybe don’t with the “the.”
There’s plenty to be said about the state of social media in 2026, and of the internet in general (not much of it good, if I’m being honest) but let’s take a moment to reflect back on the simpler times, and simpler layouts, of many folks’ first social media account.
