Helen Keller was an astounding human being. She lost both her eyesight and hearing at 19 months old. However, thanks to her teacher and companion Anne Sullivan, she would learn how to read and write.
Keller would go on to become a leading advocate for those with disabilities. She even helped establish the ACLU. She published dozens of articles and books, and in 1964 she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Lyndon B. Johnson.
Keller passed away peacefully on June 1st, 1968. But not before raising money for the American Foundation for the Blind, and befriending the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Mark Twain, and Alexander Graham Bell.
Luckily, therealhelenkeller on Instagram continues posting photos, long after her death.
