7th Annual Tyler’s Tee-off Shines Light on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
When I first came to terms with the fact that I had depression, I felt the way I’m sure everyone feels in that situation…scared, alone, helpless.
It’s incredibly hard to admit that you’re struggling with mental health, it’s even harder to ask for help. So when I got a text 7 years ago from sister that said, “Tyler Barger took his own life.” That was it for me.
This can’t be the outcome for other young men in the world, let alone my hometown. So I started therapy. I started writing about my struggles. I started taking medication. Because as much as I didn’t want to be here at certain points in my life, I knew that suicide COULDN’T be the answer.
