History behind teddy bear toss games – hockey’s holiday tradition

A tradition like no other, Teddy Bear Toss games have spanned multiple decades, hockey leagues, and fanbases. The entire concept is that fans bring teddy bears and other stuffed toys to the arena. After the home team scores their first goal, the fans rain down a storm of stuffed animals onto the ice. After the ice is cleared, all of the stuffed animals are donated to children’s hospitals, Toys for Tots, and similar charities.
