Two days ago, the BBC posted a touching story about a teen named Leo who lost his mother and younger sibling in the tragic Texas floods. Leo survived after being ensnared in barbed wire. I can’t imagine the pain he’s endured, both mentally and physically.

So, in true Chive style, we started a GoFundMe for Leo, so that when he leaves the hospital, he knows that somewhere out there, a group of charitable strangers care for his well-being. Chive Charities has been finding the orphaned causes for 16 years, and we’re not going to miss the pitch when it comes to a tragedy in our own backyard.

The GoFundMe has been a tremendous success! After setting a goal of $2,000, it’s now nearing $10,000.

Now we have to find Leo! If he’s still in the hospital, we want to be very respectful of HIPAA, and of course, we’ll wait until he’s recovered and out of emergency care. If he’s already been discharged, he shouldn’t be too difficult to find. But we also understand, there’s a lot going on right now.

It’s time to activate our Texas Chivers to help locate Leo so we can get him the money. Given the million+ Chivers in Texas, I’m optimistic.

We also have several employees from that area reaching out to family members who might know where to find him.
