The Last Knight who stood against the Nazis (7 Photos)
In a quiet corner of Czechoslovakia, where castle ruins dot the hills and history feels like it breathes through the stones, one man took it a step further, he lived it. Josef Menčík wasn’t playing dress-up. He wasn’t a cosplayer or a Renaissance faire regular. He was a man out of time, living in a medieval castle without running water or electricity, riding horses in full armor, and brandishing a spear like the Middle Ages had never ended.
While the rest of Europe marched into modernity, Menčík stayed firmly in the past. But when the storm of war came to his country in 1938, he did something few others dared: he stood in its path.
