I was never great at geography, but having traveled to over two dozen countries, I’d like to think my understanding of the world was somewhat decent.
Between stamped passport pages and sitting through many Olympic Opening Ceremonies, I figured I’d at least heard of every official country on Earth.
Then I looked at the complete roster and realized how many official sovereign states, self-governing territories, and remote island states I’ve managed to miss over the years.
So, at the risk of sounding a little ignorant, I’ve decided to round up a list of places I bet you probably couldn’t find on a map, along with some fun facts for each one.
