I’m no etymologist but apparently, everyone on Twitter is. Recently, the site has learned that the term Debbie Downer originated from the popular SNL skit. (There’s also an argument about people saying it existed long before but there’s a lot of proof that it actually didn’t/was never put in writing until the skit.)
