Some sounds are worse than others, but for a few there is a specific trigger noise that sends people into a blind rage immediately upon hearing.

Duct tape being peeled off the roll, rotary-style phones ringing, people chewing with their mouth open, and the phrase “Let’s go around and introduce ourselves.”
I will forever loathe any teacher/professor that made people do that.
