Horatio Crunch- Cap’n Crunch
Introduced: 1963
Cap’n Crunch was a response to the kids who stated just how much they HATED soggy cereal. Their name and tagline (Stays crunchy… even in milk!) was a promise to those kids that soggy cereal was a thing of the past, at least with Captain Horatio Crunch. The Captain was drawn by and based on a man named Jay Ward, who also sported a big white mustache. Jay also animated popular shows such as ocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right and George of the Jungle. Today, the Captain is still one of the most iconic of all ‘cereal mascots’ and his cereal is still loved by many.
