There’s a reason why sci-fi purists prefer the original version of Star Wars.
I don’t just mean the original trilogy, either — I mean the original trilogy in its original form, before the rereleases injected CGI, additional scenes, and an egregious initial blaster shot from Greedo.
Watching the theatrical version of the original Star Wars trilogy, or revisiting some old Star Trek episodes, really creates an appreciation for how sci-fi used to be done back in the day; practical effects, smart camera shots, and the occasionally ridiculous costume.
So here’s to old school, vintage science fiction. May the future of space exploration actually look as cool as they imagined it might be.
