Okay, Tipping Culture Is Starting to Feel Personal

I was at a parking garage the other day — an underground parking garage. I parked my own car. And the attendant asked for a tip when I paid my ticket. Like, when I left and took my own car out of the parking lot that I parked in.

There was a time when tipping was straightforward. You knew when to do it, how much to leave, and nobody judged you while you made your decision.

Now? Every screen spins around, three tip options pop up, and the baseline is rarely 15% anymore.

Coffee. Takeout. A self-checkout kiosk. Tipping culture is starting to feel personal, it’s getting out of hand.
