A few months ago, a man named Matt Poole contacted Chive Charities with an idea. He planned to walk the Appalachian Trail in its entirety – more than 2,190 from Georgia to Maine – and wanted to raise donations and awareness for Chive Charities and our amazing recipients.
As someone with a baseline familiarity with the AT, I was blown away by the determination and commitment I knew it would take – I watched my mom take the same journey just a few years ago. She’s a 25-year veteran of the U.S. Army, and while she’s extended that career of service as a dietician with the VA, she still struggles with post-traumatic stress.
