I have no personal experience with this, but it sure sounds like the relationships between step-parents and step-children can be pretty tense.
And it probably doesn’t help too much when the step-parent pulls a dick move like the one covered here. But the retaliation is pretty bonkers here, and comes with a photo-finish (and an epilogue of sorts):
