Dillon Reagan, 32, from Portland, Oregon, was recently canned from his job of four years at Home Depot for “violating company policy.” Seems like a fair, albeit vague reason to be fired, except when you realize what actually took place your blood might begin to boil. As it turns out, Dillon was doing his best trying to save a child from a possible kidnapping.
According to Dillon, “At the time, the only thing I was thinking about was the child’s safety,” he continued, “I stepped outside and sure enough, there’s this lady who’s frantic and crying, ‘Somebody help me please! He’s stealing my kid, he’s kidnapping my child!’”
Dillon and another colleague called the police and then, upon the request from the dispatcher, they followed the man on foot until the police arrived. The two gave their statements, and then returned to the store approximately 10 minutes later. Crisis averted!! However, the next day he was surprised when his supervisor scolded him by stating “‘You did the wrong thing. You should have just gone back to work.’” Within a month the company fired him for breaking the company’s safety policy.
