I think some people think of “trolling” as a modern invention, maybe something that only really rose out of the depths of the internet.
Students of history know that this is not the case. There are trolls throughout human history as long as it has existed, from modern times all the way to ancient civilizations. While this is hardly a comprehensive list (my favorite story was way too long to put in this post), it’s a great cross-section:
