Family disputes between step-parents and their kids can get pretty ugly, but this one is just cruel from a certain point of view. Which is why I think our narrator was more than justified in his actions (I’m not going to claim to know all parties involved, but the step-father in this story pulled a real dick move, that’s simply not in dispute):
