The National Space Foundation’s Inouye Solar Telescope has provided us with this first-ever close up of the sun’s surface. “Even at this fine resolution, the scale is enormous; each plasma cell here is about the size of Texas.”
It’s truly amazing seeing the surface of the sun….but it does look a little like caramel corn, and the internet can’t help but joke about it. Maybe we’re all just hungry!?
