“I’m not sure why, but since about two or three years ago, whenever I go to a bookstore I am struck by an urge to move my bowels.” That now historic quote is straight from the mouth of author, Mariko Aoki who is credited with coining the Mariko Aoki Phenomenon.
Aoki wrote about her personal experience with bookstore bowel movements, which was then published in a 1985 issue of Book Magazine.
