Man, it just wouldn’t be the holidays without some sort of public debate about what is, or isn’t offensive. In previous years, it was the “Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holidays” debate. This year, it’s over a song that was written 70 years ago, during a different time.
Honestly, I can’t believe that this conversation is happening, but it is, so let’s have an intelligent conversation about it, shall we? I’m sure you’ve heard that radio stations all over North America are banning “Baby it’s Cold Outside” due to it’s supposed promotion of rape culture. While, the lyrics do outline a gentleman and lady discussing whether or not she should go home and he seems insistent that she stay, things aren’t as ‘cut and dried’ as the words would imply, and that’s what the problem is.
