In the 19th century, H.H. Holmes opened his own hotel in Chicago which he designed himself with murder in mind. It included trap doors, soundproof bedrooms, walls lined with blowtorches, incinerators, etc. When arrested, Holmes confessed to 27 murders in his hotel, but we’ll never truly know if it was less or more.
