Post-it Notes
There once was a chemist on a quest for the holy grail of adhesives: a universal glue that would bond anything to everything. Metal? Check. Glass? Check. Plastic, wood, ceramics, even skin? All check-marks. Better yet, the bond formed instantly and never dried out. There was just one teensy snag: its grip had the tensile strength of a damp tissue. Tug gently and even a child could peel it free. Unfortunately, it was too weak for any practical use
Years later, a choir-singing colleague named Art Fry needed bookmarks that wouldn’t slip out of his hymnal. Remembering the so-called useless glue, he dabbed a bit on scraps of paper. The paper stuck without tearing pages and lifted off cleanly for reuse. What began as a failed quest for super-glue became the humble Post-it Note, the office MVP we rely on for reminders, dick doodles, and passive-aggressive fridge messages.
