‘Behind the Coins’: SSN-678 USS Archerfish

We have a very special challenge coin that we’re highlighting today. Not only because this man served his country and did his patriotic duty. But today he would have turned 76 years old. We’d like to dedicate this piece to his memory. I’ll let his son, Bgwiese, take it from here…
“I write this on the evening of Father’s Day, which I haven’t celebrated with my father for 12 years now. I write this with some tears welling in my eyes. My grandfather and father were both Navy Submariners. My grandfather during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a lucky one that was able to come home. 3 different subs he had been on – and moved to a different boat – were sunk right after he got off them. My father was what they call a ‘Plank Owner’ of his submarine, the SSN678 USS Archerfish.”
