It had been exactly 2,180 days since the NHL’s last goalie fight. That all changed in the Year of our Lord 2026.
As fans packed Amerant Bank Arena last night to watch the defending Stanley Cup Champion Panthers take on the San Jose Sharks, they were treated to a true rarity in the sport of hockey.
After a late hit from Panthers center Evan Rodrigues on Sharks defenseman Vincent Desharnais, the teams began to scrum. Typically that would be the end of it, but that’s when Sharks goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic jumped in.
