It’s hard not to be romantic about baseball. The smell of the fresh cut grass, the crack of the bat on a perfectly hit ball, the taste of sunflower seeds and bubble gum. It doesn’t get much better than that.

For most people, baseball is just a game. It has no effect on their life and never will. I wish those people could understand the gravity of what is happening in baseball right now.

For those of us who were raised around the game, going to MLB games every summer while following the stats of their favorite players, 61 is one of the most meaningful numbers in the sport.
