Flying through EYE of the Hurricane (Video)


Right NOW,
pilots of the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron out of Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., are flying a WC-130J toward Hurricane Ida (August 2021). This mission marked the squadron’s third into Hurricane Ida.
Video above shows what the same aircraft is doing…the Ida footage hasn’t been released…but “this is what it looks like”.
The U.S. Air Force Reserve “Hurricane Hunters” fly in the eye of Hurricane “Dorian”, Aug. 31, 2019. The WC-130J aircraft flew through the eye of Dorian four times to gather weather data to determine the intensity and path.
