They use that area for a dessert environment in quite a few movies. Transformers 1 and 2 filmed there and passed it off as Egypt, and if you go back to watch the movies again you'll notice the sand is white. It's a beautiful place though, really just makes you stop and stare

I live right by here! chive, you gotta post pics from the "midnight moon" events they have here. on midnight the moon illuminates the park making it look like something out of this world. its SOO much fun

I grew up in a little town called High Rolls, it's tucked away in the mountains (background / photo 9). We could see the whole basin from our living room windows….funny how much you miss home when you see it like this.

Much of this area is covered with lakes during the winter. It is super fun to sled there in the summer!
