hard to tell.. old and new games are so different at this time, that they can't be compared… still: new games can't beat the retro charm that the old arcade games posess :)

Battlefield 3 is barely even playable at this point. It sure is pretty, when you can get in a game.

As an avid gamer, i think its funny when this debate surfaces. Those who say the the old games are better by calling them "classics" are completely biased and are basing their opinions on nostalgia alone. Many of those who claim the new games are better more than likely have not played the older games. So, this debate is essentially useless to these people because this debate is purely based on personal opinion. I have played games Atari, Arcade Machines, NES/Super Nintendo/N64/Gamecube/Wii, Gameboy/Color/Advance/DS, Gamegear, Sega Genesis/Saturn/Dreamcast, PSX/PS2/PS3, XBOX/360, PC from 93-Present, MMO's from '99-present, and have to say in each system there are extremely well developed games and there are those that make you sick. Unless the games are remakes, they are not truly comparable.

tl;dr: Play ALL the Games! Then decide…

No fighting game will ever replace the old Mortal kombat games for me, the only one that even felt sort of like the old is the newest one that came out on the 360. Even then after I beat it I pulled out my Snes.

I don't care how 'good' something looks. People who play games just for looks instead of also considering depth and content are idiots. It's like saying "OH THIS MOVIE WAS AMAZING" Yet all it had were a bunch of great looking explosions and realistic gore. The movie can still suck.

#5 what the F us up with the Metal Slug pic. That is not from the game. There are no miners on that level and the grenade counter is completely different. What, was this ripped from the flash game versions or something.

Without the old there will be no new.

They should do a post like this for movie remakes. Which are usually terrible remakes of the original. BUT, if you haven't dusted off your old N64 recently, do it! I've been rocking Ocarina of Time like its brand new. THe 3DS version just doesn't stack up!

    Sonic (old school)
GoldenEye 64 AND Halo, (you can't pit these two against each other, they were both industry changers)
    The Legend of Zelda
    Battlefield 3
    Mike Tyson’s Punch Out
    Mario Brothers
Portal (Why is this being debated?)
    Soul Caliber 5
