what if they taught our soldiers this shit? that'd be badass.
"i see your 12 jihadists and will raise you a batallion of spider-men equipped with M4's"

      Fur… Sure…

The Soldiers would be nearly untouchable!

      • Quinlan

Haha they used to teach the French commandos parkour in the 60's

    • http://thechive.com/ GernBlansten

It would be a real bitch to pull off some of this wearing 80 pounds of gear and body armor.

That said, you should watch some vids of Rangers in action……

    • Chris

The French military implemented parkour so their military could get out of anywhere, you're a little late but good thinking

      • Nico

Parkour is inspired by the military parkour…

        • Nico

    • NHale

A couple of Special Operation units have been using a free running gym in California to try out a new kind of martial art/free running/PT

    • https://www.facebook.com/curtis.s.quick Curtis Savvy Quick

I like your thinking… They'd have to be referenced as ninjas though.

    • Scotty

The day they start implementing parkour is the day I sign up for the military!

    • UK Guest

UK Special Forces teach free running on a basic level not like that video though =)

    • Free Runner

It started in the military as something called Méthode naturelle, or natural method, which then developed quite some time later into Parkour. Freerunning came right after that.

    All thanks to Sebastian Foucan

        And Marsupilami.

    • Free Runner

      Not even close.

  • MarissaAD

Is it necessary to run after? It's amazing none the less

    • http://thechive.com/ GernBlansten

It bleeds of the energy of impact. Same thing for the rolling you see them doing.

    • TheSimonizer

If you take out the running part, then it's just called "free" instead of "freerunning".

    • Dan

You're super hot – is that really you in your profile pic?

    • guest

actually the run after a hard landing helps to make the force from the landing go forward instead of down

    • Free Runner

There's so much moentum left after doing a move like that, so you can't not run after doing one.

  • SpacemanSpiff

    These guys need helmets

also i always thought it was kinda weird that their steel balls don't weigh them down

    • st33

      Holy future knee replacements

    • Canadius

I bet the outtakes reel is way more fun and nearly as impressive

    • joeschmoe

I think they use them as counter-weights.

    • Jeebus Weebus

that's some real assassin's creed shit

    • http://www.facebook.com/danmcg Daniel McGrath

I honestly just wanted them to not wear such ill fitting sweat pants. Those things get caught on something and your tricks are worthless.

    • JESSE

      like… absolutely everyone?

  • SupraJeeper

And they do it all in pants that are 10 sizes too big,

    • Travis

I was going to say… are the huge pants a pre requisite?

    • http://thechive.com/ GernBlansten

Loose clothing allows more freedom of motion. It's a lot to do with why soldiers wear baggy trousers.

    • Rye

Also extra padding for the road/parkour rash from sliding on concrete.

    • Karac

Not exactly going to do it in skinny jeans now are ya?

      • http://www.facebook.com/james.keogh.733 James Keogh

Hammer pants are back in fashion it seems.

    • parkourfreak

just how it works. try doing it in skinny jeans, hurts.

  • JMO23

Is it a requirement to wear sweatpants that are 3 sizes to big to do parkour?

    • bill

They need the extra room for their balls.

  • http://thechive.com/ Paula_

    Fucking useless punks.

They DO make great faceplant compilations though!

I've got a feeling that Ezio Auditore would would put them all to shame.

  • RacerX2112

Urban gymnastics maybe but not parkour…parkour is meant as a way to utilize movement to absorb shock and extend reach to get from point a to point b…doing 3 flips to jump over a 2 foot fence is not parkour.

    • Bill Fucking murray

you correct peoples grammar on youtube don't you

    • Ben

RacerX2112 is correct, this is what's called free-running. It's less about travel efficiency and more about showing off. Pretty badass though.

    • TonyM

      Old argument is old.

At least it keeps them off the streets.

    • meh

clearly they are on the streets. Or did you not see the bits when they were on the streets?

      • http://thechive.com/ GernBlansten

They were only touching for a second though…..

  • Kenny

I want to see the ones where they DONT make it!

    • Bilbo Braggins

One guy didn't make it. It was in the first third of the video. His buddy made a long jump to a round platform and he followed but didn't make it. He slides down the front of it. Of course he makes it look like that is what he wanted to do.

    • Henry

      • Caffeine

        This is WAAAYYYYY more entertaining….

    • guest

there were at least 4 fails in this video, but they did some clever editing or pannd away as soon as it happened so it looks more fluid then it was

  • AdonAdonim

This is not parkour, this is mostly freerunning. Free running is with all the flips and makeing it look sweet. Parkour is simply the fastest you can flow using all the obstacles.

    • ewp

I was hoping someone would make this distinction

Regardless, this makes people more aware of both of them, so it's all good 🙂

  • https://www.facebook.com/michael.zukov Michael Zukov

Not to be a nitpicker (well actually I am)….Thats a perfect example of freerunning (not Parkour).

David Belle and Sebastian Foucan founding Parkour, but had differing views on the philosophy. Eventually splitting. David Belle (Parkour) believed it should be the most efficient way to get from Point A to Point B. Sebastian Foucan believed you shouldn't take it too seriously, have fun, add in some flips, spins, etc. and so he split off and created freerunning.

    • Black6dog

Glad you said it, it's really not that hard of a distinction. Also, urban gymnastics, urban ninja, wtf, that's like saying riding a motorcycle is high speed bicycling; they're similar but it just makes you look really stupid

  • Nate

I wonder if they make skateboard sounds with their mouth the whole time..

"clickclickclick whap! sssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnngggggggggg, WHOOOOP! CLACK! clickclickclick"

They could easily become stunt men and get paid big bucks Dumb Ass

      • Andy Valentine

        Also… you know… the world championships…

        • 13Aliens

It's not too far off from Olympic gymnastics and would be way more entertaining to watch… heck, they added snowboarding, why not free-running?

    • http://www.facebook.com/mark.pryor.184 Mark Pryor

You can totally get paid to do this r u kidding me and face plants who gives a damn you get to learn beast ass tricks and Ive only seen people get face plants if they really suck and don't know what they're doing Levi meeuwenburg gets paid for this shit
