Oh yeah, my Dad built me a Countach (35 Photos)

  • kryvian

look son, I built you a lamborghini!.

Waw, awesome dad, but…. it's in the basement.

    • MylesofStyles

Not to mention the fact that with that many man-hours into it, it most certainly would have been cheaper to buy one.

No problem Russ – we're just gonna bust a hole in the wall and make the basement into a garage.

    • Stephen

He could have also, I don't know, BOUGHT a real Lamborghini Cuntach.

      • M.O.T.

It's spelt for you. Right there in the title. And yet you still got it wrong.

        • Boulderfrog

It's spelled "spelled". And yet you still got it wrong.

          • NickDB

            Spelt is also correct.

      • Evan

        Cuntach sounds dirty

#29 When you can afford to build a Countach in your basement, the structural integrity of the foundation is nothing to worry about

    • des troyer

the structural integrity of the foundation in the area they blew a hole doesnt really matter. the windows header above it deflects the load around the window to the edge, if you look you can see they only cut to the edge of where the window is.

      • TattooedPhreak

Ketchup, baby tomato. He was making a joke a bit above your head apparently.

        • smokey

but the joke doesnt make sense, unless you don't know about structural design. soooo.. yeah,

          • Frank

As a structural engineer, I would be very unlikely to put my stamp on something like that. Window or not, that wall is now being asked to span 10 foot. Though for all we know, there is a beam inside the basement that we can't see that is taking that load. Hard to make an assessment as to the structural integrity of something from 2 pictures.

            • Adam

if your stamp were made of ketchup, I'd be sure to put it on everything.

    • Guntherj

Who is this guy, Bob Vila? Who gives a shit about the house and it's structural integrity? I think you should mabe be on a home improvement page. Loser.

ok so its cool you got a countach, but so uncool your daddy built it for you

Being proud that ur dad is legitimately one of the best in the world trumps wether people think u're cool or not. I'm sure he helped too so when he's got a girl in the car he can sy oh yea my dad and I built this… No big deal Bam wtf u know he's cool again.

    • whakado

Ok it's cool you sleep well at night, but so uncool your daddy tucks you in…. lame ass! Great dad and a grateful kid. Tim go suck on an exhaust pipe!

#29 Digging out the Lambo is almost as impressive as building the damn thing.

    • kryvian

that got a laugh out of me XD

  • Adrian

Actually this was built by a guy over the course of many many many many years. He did not give it to his kid.

    • MonkeyMadness

Nope. Unless he plans to sell it as a Countach (and make money off the Lambo name) or sell it deceptively as a Countach, he is good to go. No different than slapping a Ferrari sticker on your old beat-up Honda…

        • Iso

Nope. Trademark – its a deception of the "source of origin" of the product. If you still have a doubt, look at the Farrari cases concerning kit-cars from the 80's and 90's.

          • McBoogerballs

Again, that's because people were selling the kits and therefore making a profit. Owning and making it isn't illegal; selling it or profiting from it in some way is.

            • GeoQuin4

Also, if it contains genuine parts, he can still sell it legally as a Countach as long as he discloses modifications.

            • chip"themeat"hayes

Lawyered, you should have ended with Lawyered. What a waste of a good retort. ugh

  • LarsfromNorway

mom should go to aunt May's more often.

  • bruce

I find it funny he had a garage in the back but chose to build it in the basement #29 also all that trouble but no v12. I understand the cost but all the other details are insane

    • kryvian

he prob built it in over 10 years. would be a waste of a garage.

    • fuckv12

100% hand crafted Countach out of aluminum and a space tube frame. All aluminum body formed on a wooden buck using an English wheel. My own design space frame with Corvette hubs and custom A-arms. Mated to a ZF-25 5 speed. S.S. 180 degree headers GT40 design "bundle of snakes" Boss 351 bored stroked to 377 515hp 48 IDA Webbers. One off TransAm BBS rim shells to my own center section wheels. Custom brake package to fit 16" wheels. Fuel cell, twin aluminum sprint car (Howe) radiators. All aluminum interior with leather dash, Momo seats and 5 point harness, on board halon fire bottle. quick release steering wheel. Low to the ground at 2700 lbs. 100% body correct by using a real Countach to measure from. Over 10 years in the making.

    • crazydog

The 351 in that vehicle revs just as high as a v12 but is also a FVCKING BRUTE.

    • Big_Okie

Yeah, but you have to believe that a guy who could build this thing probably had a good reason for doing it exactly how he did. I know I don't have the mechanical wherewithal to question him…

  • http://www.facebook.com/ehbrada Lawrence Panis

I don't care what anyone says, the guy that built this is fkn badass! Wish I had half his patience.

    • Jaives

I wish I had all his tools.

      • http://www.myspace.com/theamericanmaniacs BentWrenches

I wish i had his cash flow.

  • Syncro

Why go through all the trouble to build what is considered by many to be a mediocre handling '70's supercar when you can still buy a decent one for probably less than it cost to build this one?!? Jeesh, build something rare and unobtainable like a classic Ferrari or Porsche 959.

    • Syncro

Having said that, I still have to admit that I covet and drool over this guy's workshop and fabrication skills!!!

      • Ericalleng

        Good catch there.

    • Mooch

      Do you have one? No?
You should build one; I mean, really, how hard could it be?

      • gearhead

I, for one, see his point though. If you have the means to undertake such a monumental project, then you could buy the real thing and restore it to showroom condition.

    • G-M

      Because Countach!
The original was a mediocre handling '70s supercar and Marilyn Monroe was a lousy 400m hurdler.

    • Karl

G-M puts it perfectly. If handling is what you're after, this definitely isn't your thing. If you want a car that feels like its one step away from being put in a straight jacket and taken away by the men in white coats, any Lambo of Diablo era or older is the car for you. This car is the equivalent of that completely crazy chick you keep dating cause she's so good in bed, even if you can't take her to the grocery store.

      • Drft

Well said, and for work I have driven quite a few 959's and a couple Ferrari's, not quite what they are idealized to be, cool and fun, but most modern sports cars will still blow the doors off

        • Ryan

The 959 would do 0-60 in 4s and a standing 1/4 in 12s. I'd be shocked if there are even two guys who have commented on this thread that own a car that would "blow its doors off". I own a 1989 Porsche 944, a 2005 modified Mini Cooper Supercharged, and a 1967 Mustang with a 289 V8. The 959 would thrash all three.

          • Ash

I bet a lot do. It'd be a tight race for anyone even with a new 5.0 mustang with a 959. My 6.0 v8 GTO runs around 4.7 to sixty and 11.8-12.2 in the quarter. I bet a lot of guys on here have faster stuff.

    • Mark

Where's yours that you built? Oh, that's right. You don't have anything to bring to the table. Except your mouth.

    • heathclif

did you see the modern suspension and full tubular cage chassis on this HANDBUILT one off Countach?

That thing probably handles just as good as any modern purpose built track car and with the Ford V8 he has under the bonnet it is way more reliable than the original.

      • http://www.myspace.com/theamericanmaniacs BentWrenches

Pretty much what I was going to say,He re-engineered the whole car and likely worked out all the Italian problems of the original.

    • http://www.facebook.com/knightrider4683 David Shamolian

I think he has a different front end and way different suspension set up to cure the "mediocre handling" you speak about! The Countach is one the most beautiful and legendary Lambo ever made! Why have trailer queen aka classic ferrari or porsche 959?? The Countach is where the Super Car originated!

      • NickDB

The merc 300SL Gullwing might disagree with that. The Countach is an all time great, don't think it's where the super car originated though.

    • SnoopyIsMyHero

If you have to ask, you don't understand.

How do I put this…shut the f*ck up you worthless little person.

#35 15 dollar wheel alignment lol

    • https://www.facebook.com/cody.young.75491 Cody Young

"Strings" effective and accurate alignment. This is how ya do it on race cars at the track.

Plus, are you gonna trust your passion, heart, money, and all that time to some jackass at the local tire shop?

      • jeff

with its clearance it probably wouldnt make it on just any alignment rack either.

    • http://www.myspace.com/theamericanmaniacs BentWrenches

That's how us old school mechanics do it. The string don't lie..

    • Jackson

Strings are great. I use them on my motorcycles all the time.

  • MonkeyMadness

#29 What do you mean it won't drive up the stairs? Fk!

  • Very impressed

#2 #4 #5 Guy has some serious skills

  • bhu

    seems ligit

  • toni796

    impressive, still missing V12
and that chassis doesn't look that it can handle anything above 20hp
still looks great and thats what matters

    • Optomistic

You know sh!t then because if anything the chassis and roll cage look over built.

    • Static

yeah, not sure what pics your looking at… you think, that if this guy knows how to build an entire car from scratch, that he wouldnt know how to design/build a motor mount?

    • deluciousd

A complete Tubular frame/chassis doesn't look that it can handle anything above 20hp? Go look at pictures of the Corvette Lemans cars. They are built out of tubular frame/chassis too. I bet you're right though, they probably can't handle anything above 20hp either.

    • CodyY

Your opinion and $5 will getcha a hamburger.

STFU when you don't have a clue what you're talking about.
