Restoring faith in humanity one random act of kindness at a time (15 Photos)

It's the holiday season and we've never been more in need of these random acts of kindness. Feel free to go out and make a complete stranger's day today. If you want, take a photo of it and send it my way. I'll post the best of them in the DAR throughout the holiday.

  • hooray

    • Kristen

      Maybe that's because you're a cunt.

      • Tre

        That is fn hilarious

      • Jon

        Go fuck yourself, Kristen.

    • GoBeavers

      you're right.

    • Guest

Then make it happen for someone else

      • holyshit

^ this guy has the right attitude.

      • J_Ace

      • Chazz_B

exactly, kindness is not for oneself but for everyone around you 🙂

    • a-nom

This post isn't about expecting these things to happen, it's being kind enough yourself to help others in need with zero expectation of return. The idea is to not be selfish.

      Start the chain…

    • Jon

hooray….I can't stop laughing at your post. I was thinking the exact same thing. Some people on the chive take their shit a little too seriously though, considering all the thumbs down you got.

      • Jon

Also I would add that random acts of kindness don't happen because of some kind of positive moral choice a person is making…hooray's initial comment was funny and truthful and in no way does it mean that he/she isn't deserving of kind gestures. Dickheads.

        • AndySaximus

Jon and Hooray = Same person lol

          • AndySaximus

I would also like to add that continuing or starting a chain of random acts of kindness could easily be argued to be "some kind of positive moral choice."

    • @Chappysohappy

      wont now ass face.

    • Guest

Maybe it DID and you didn't notice.

    • Eduardo Cruz Jr

So, perhaps, you should make it happen for someone else. Kindness begets kindness.

  • corey

    • Kristen

You, you are also a cunt.

  • xocalixo

Chivers doing good makes me a happy gal. Chive on everybody.

    • Jen

this just reminded me of a time when i went out to eat with my son. i was a fairly young single mother. an old lady struck up conversation with us and then paid our bill without telling me. i hadnt remembered that story in years. i think its time i do the same for someone else.

    • ps86

the key to seeing more of this is for people to stop for a second and really appreciate when it happens to you. kindness is viral when it is appreciated

  • sjd

Ordered my coffee this morning then realized forgot my wallet (new baby at home will do that to you). Lady behind me picked up the tab. There are some good people left out there.

    • FunKiller

Whenever I go to Starbucks (not very often, but when I do) I always pay for the person behind me.

      • sjd

        You're a fuckin' liar.

        • FunKiller

You've (obviously) never been behind me at Starbucks.

          • Llort

It's not too hard to believe. It's rare.. yeah.. but there are a lot of people out there that enjoy spreading kindness! It's a great thing. If you spend a bit of money on someone else.. even a complete stranger.. the act of doing so and the happiness they feel is worth every cent.

        • tom

Way to hijack a post about humanity from the original guy. Classless.

      • sjd

Yeah that's from the original person who posted. Well done sir. Classy and appreciated

      • KCMonkey

I was in the line at Starbucks once and everyone was paying for the person behind them. The barista said it had been going on for over 10 people. Made my day

      • JTW

Whenever I go to Starbucks I always wait and get behind this one guy that pays for the coffee of the person behind him.

        • AnyoneForCoffee

I always line up behind you and you never pay for me.

          Tight f**k.

      • Vanessa

I work at Tim Hortons and there is always this guy that comes through the drive thu and pays for the next car. The people in the next car are always so confused haha.

        • FunKiller

My friend told me she did this once, I thought it was an awesome idea so I started doing it. Hopefully it catches on…..more!

        • Peasoupdoughboy

Vanessa, do you work in St. John's?
There is a guy there who does that every time he goes there.

      • MylesofStyles

I like to sneak up behind my friends while they're taking a leak and pull them away from the toilet / urinal in mid pee. It's like controlling a human tank that shoots pee.

  • Johny

    darnn dust in the air.

    first btw

    • FunKiller

You should probably just keep crying, cause you just failed…..horribly!

  • Begone, wench

Well you really fucked up pressing the reply button that time, didn't you? How someone can screw up something so simple is beyond me but it doesn't bode well for the future of our species.

  • larry

    That would be awesome

    • Billy

I just ordered new tires. If someone did this I would feel like I won the lottery.

  • Red

#3 Never get tired of seeing this one.

    • Kato

They are cute until they scratch the living shit out of you.

      • Alex

Or steal shiny items and shove them up your dogs bum. Long story…I miss you, GumNuts

      • Toad

No kidding, Massive claws, one climbed my wife's grand mum like a tree when a car back fired, wicked scars.

  • Chris Breezy

    Stupid scroll ads….kindly remove them

    • 617Chiver

      Kindly download ad-blocker.

      • Chris Breezy

        Kindly go fuck yourself.

        • 617Chiver

But I'm at work, that would be awkward.

          • FunKiller

Awkward, but possibly the best thing you've ever done….especially if it's done 'kindly.'

            • LIKE A BOSS

How would one 'kindly' fuck themselves? Like, whisper nice things about me while I do it?

        • Chris Breezy

          ? I didn't post this

      • AWildChiverAppeared!

I'm all for using ad-blockers, but when you find a site you really enjoy (such as the chive), it's better to turn them off; ads are a big revenue source, and by blocking them indiscriminately you force ad providers to fight around them with ever more annoying ads, instead of encouraging websites to provide quality content.

        • 617Chiver

No I do agree with you, but at the office I block everything.

    • Ribsta

I never understand these comments about scroll ads, never seen 'em here… and I *gasp* use IE

  • Del

#9 Is that a random act of kindness or just someone being responsible for their actions?? Just sayin… it was cool he owned up to it…

    • Simon

Lost the trim off half my car the other day because people taking shortcuts down my road can't drive. Will never see that again, and can't really afford to replace it right now.

Anybody taking responsibility for their errors is noble right now.

    • Euroranger

What's sad is that someone being responsible for their actions is regarded as meritorious conduct…as if it's so rare to see anymore.

    • Kyle

Not exactly random kindness, but by today's standards it deserves some credit.

  • orangewhip

    #14 best handwriting ever.

    • threeorangewhips

    • Mcdrew

Must of been an architect or engineer

      • adMANistrator

  • Jerry

    #8 well yea he's rescuing them…. i mean in 3 to 6 months dinner….

    • J_Ace

      ^ ignorant.

      • fonzy1984

not really man they like dog over there. he might be chowind down on some chow later but hopefully not.

  • ImpressMe

There are good people in the world, sadly they just don't make as exciting a headline as the assholes…… Thanks for putting this kind of Gallery together…its easy to get pretty cynical and jaded these days…things like this help… 🙂 #7 #13 #15

    • Cheesehead

Agreed, I'm sure a lot of people could use a (bi)weekly post of this kind of stuff.

  • Guest

    This are all fake!

    • ChrisDG74

All your base are belong to us!

    • Claude

But your trolling is real. Real asinine.

    • sick of the same

just like your mom's tits — which were donated by tax payers because she sold off her food stamps for a boob job.
(the tax payers are so generous)

      • Guest

Nice comeback Moron! How old are you 7? Go back and get molested by your dad again

  • Machew

II enjoy this post almost as much as boobs….almost.

    • theREALjoe

I was going to tell you to go jump off a bridge but seeing how this is the faith in humanity section and all, all I have to say good luck to you in all your future ventures! KCCO.

      • Guest

        Fuck you, Joe.

        • theREALjoe

          Thank you! 🙂

    • Tim just Tim

  • Guy

All brilliant, thank you good Chivers and Chivettes.

  • When

Damn Kristen, you on the rag?

    • xocalixo

      it appears so.

      • When

Wow, you're pretty. Can I put my penis in your vagina? I want to make sex on you.

        • xocalixo

          Faith in humanity, unrestored.

          • Red

Agreed. "When" is a cocksucker, but at least he has mastered the correct usage of "you're" and "your".

            • guest

Dumb luck and mastery are not the same thing.

  • Simon

You're still about making the world colder, I see.

  • Verbal_Kint

I've only seen 2 Chivers in the wild. Would definitely spread some chive love if I saw more…

    • Hrdwood

Maybe if the Chive made more shirts available, more people could wear them and see how many of us there are, thereby increasing the good deeds done for each other and making the world a better place.

Longwinded, I know… but you get my point.

      • Verbal_Kint

Yeah, I do. There's nothing better for demand creation than lack of supply. Also the XL are more like L.

        • Hrdwood

Thanks for the tip on the sizes… I'll let Santa know… that fat bastard screwed everything up last year.

    • KS Chivette

Do you tailgate often? That's where I see my fellow chivers

      • Verbal_Kint

No not really, but I wear my chive gear out quite bit.

        • a-nom

I'm the same way man. I've found only 4 up here in NH, turned another 4 onto the site. However I have found another couple that have the fake shirts just looking to pick up girls. Such crap…

          • Top Secret

There's a bunch of us here in Manchester! Where in NH are you?

            • a-nom

Nashua. Jon needs to organize a meet up here. Gotta give the East Coast some love

        • lol

I bet if you left your moms basement more often you would run into more chivers…bazinga!

          • Verbal_Kint

you spelled “my mom's bedroom” wrong…

          • guest

            Not worthy of bazinga, FYI..

    • aaron

If someone has $30 for a t-shirt, they can buy their own damn beer.

    • MikeOverHere

Only seen one, a couple weeks ago. But I know there are other Chivers and Chivettes here in Cambodia, because I see photos from Cambodia posted here from time to time.

  • Simon

#5 That's one pretty epic picture to me.

    • lord_humongous

      photo of the year

  • John80

#5 Damn you, Chive, I don't like feeling emotions. But seriously, cool stuff. It's a shame this post has about a tenth the comments of a post with a bunch of random chicks

  • @ThePhilPauls

Very cool, my Wife is a manager at that Chili's KCCO!

Love these posts, some very good people out there!

    • @ThePhilPauls

      #12 – That is.
