France – Yellow signifies jealousy, betrayal, weakness and contradiction. During the 10th century, the doors of traitors and criminals were painted yellow.
China – Oddly enough, yellow is associated with pornography in China. They use the term ‘yellow book’ or ‘yellow picture’ when discussing any type of pornographic material.
Japan – Since the War of Dynasties in 1357, yellow is used to represent bravery, wealth and refinement. During this time, warriors wore yellow chrysanthemums which represented the emperor in Japan and royal family.
Thai – Yellow is a lucky and important color in Thai culture. It is associated with Monday which is considered the most important shade of the week because it represents the King of Thailand, King Bhumibol, who has held reign since June 9, 1946, and was born on December 5th, in 1927 – a Monday.
