Last week, the world lost yet another musical icon. Don’t know about you, but I’m over 2016. It hasn’t been a good year for musicians, and I bet they’ve got one hell of a jam band in the afterlife by now.
In any case, Leonard Cohen was one of a kind; musician, author and poet, and romantic. He also had a dirty mind. All through his lyrics, between the beauty and the prose, there’s so much sex and decadence, and through it all, there was this undercurrent of eroticism and animal magnetism. Just watch any of his concert footage, or the 1972 documentary ‘Bird on a Wire;’ women just threw themselves at him. Cohen was a genuine, grade-A, thrown-panties-from-the-stage collecting, casanova.
It’s crazy the things he could get away with saying in a song, and still be considered a ladies man. That’s why he’ll be missed.
