The day after I left, I found out the family’s air conditioning unit went out. We sent a contractor out to the home today, because with the Tampa forecast predicting temperatures in the high 70s this week, we are only weeks away from the onset of another humid spring.

UPDATE #1: We crushed the $20,000 goal and counting…

I spoke with Dior’s mother, Candace, a few minutes ago,

“We are excited and thankful for everything theCHIVE and the Chive Nation community did for us today. Dior was supposed to be in bed, she went to bed around the $18,000 mark and I could hear her yelling out ‘$18,400 mom!’ from her bedroom. She’s reading all the comments, John, it’s amazing this community.

Thank you, everything is falling into place, she has surgery next week and this is such a big deal for her and us.

I hope we can help another family soon the way you helped us. We will see you at the Green Gala!”
