No, Taylor, we all are because brave men & women like you step up every single day.

The next time some bozo comes in here hootin' & hollerin' about the the Chive copying from other sites, I hope they choke on this post.

Whoa man, I'm a wife so I know all about the "so when you gonna get hitched?!" pressure. It was a light hearted elbow jab. Seriously, it's ok.

    • Patriot

Already over 41k. I think we should shoot for the moon, pay for the entire thing and then organize some kind of meet up to do some of the work or something. Extreme Makeover-style.

      • J_Dub

I gladly donated $ and would be honored to donate my time to assist this hero any way I could.

      • Tulsa Chiver

        I'm down.

      • http://twitter.com/nolaArden @nolaArden

I'm in for that! I'd fly from New Orleans for a little home building on a Day's notice

    • Nick

Donate and vote Ron Paul so there are less stories like this.

      • Felcus

Not sure why people are thumbing this down. Ron Paul = no war.

        • Si1entStatic

Bitch please, No president will be immune from war. The Men and women in our military are doing everything they can to keep us safe. I'd rather take the fight to the terrorists on their turf than let some terrorist plan and carry out another 9/11or worse. Voting for a person who guarantee's no war is like sticking our chin out waiting for the terrorist to take the first shot. I'd like to avoid another war just as much as the next guy but not if means undoing everything they have fought for already…..

Political rant over, now to get this lumber out of my eyes before I let co-workers see me……

          • Nick

Right, they attack us because we're free, not because we're invading their country. Look up the definition of "blowback." Support the military by bringing them home to their families. There is no longer a moral imperative for this war, if there ever was one. At least elect someone who is reluctant to go to war, not someone guaranteeing it or advocating for it.

        • Nick

I was thinking the same thing. Wake up Chivers, it doesn't have to be this way.

          • Paul

I dont give a shit if you follow politics or not or if you support ron paul or not. Watch this video FOR taylor and for all active military and see if your opinion on our presence overseas doesnt change at least a little bit.

            • Jason Cooley

hey Pauline …go suck off some other bleeding heart liberal …if you dont support our military or our government ….than please feel free to leave the country until than do not diminish the burden this man and his family sacrifices on you behalf …..

      • VertigoElation

Shut the fuck up. We in the military don't give a shit about politics. We just want to keep our country safe and earn an honest living doing it.

    • JustSuper77

Donated! Good luck Taylor and Danielle. I will be keeping you in my prayers! πŸ™‚

It's sad that CNN doesn't carry this as their COVER STORY, but instead would rather display the debauchery of a fucking corrupt politician!

One of the most touching stories I've ever read. $20 headed your way, Taylor. KCCO.

    • SweetAwesomeness

fucking celebs get all kinds of attention in the media, while our heroes barely get an article in a local newspaper. why is this not front page news on yahoo or AOL? Thank you Chive for teaching us about the people that matter most in life, those who sacrifice and put their lives on the line for others they have never met. I honor and salute this man. Keep fighting and stay strong. KCCO

      • jhardesty

So sad and true. Our kids should be looking up to these heroes, their sacrifice and bravery, not celebs and their 15th dui/divorce. Says a lot about our country unfortunately. I find it horrible that the chive is the only place I heard anything about Taylor [but also makes me love chive even more].

    • thom

I just posted this to Facebook after making my own donation:

If anyone has a minute to read about and maybe help a real American hero, please consider this man. https://thechive.com/2012/05/31/chivers-this-is-th
Here is more about him and a place to make a donation if you feel like doing so: http://taylormorris.org/

    • Levian

I work in a prosthetic facility and unfortunately his story isn't as uncommon as you would think, but his heroism definitely is something to be praised. What a tragedy, happening to a young man in his prime, but he has the most positive attitude towards his amputation I've ever seen.

$20 headed your way, no hesitation

    • Question_Mark_

      $20 for a hero!

      KCCO Bud.

"When you give to someone in need, don't do as the hypocrites do–blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get."

      • DaveS

YES! I thought this every time I read a comment saying I sent X amount or donation on its way. If you're truly giving only to help this man, you don't need to share it with the world. The good deed is reward enough

    • kblaze

      did the same!

  • JLC

Lived across the street from this family when I was a kid. Awesome people. Stay strong.

      • Habsy

I think BMF should be his butler for a week. Now how cool would that be?

    • Slauterhause

When hurt of this magnitude happens to a fellow American, and a fellow Chiver, it effects us all on this community. We all feel your pain, and I hope that helps you a little. Donation incoming, but I expect a beer and a story sometime.

i went to high school with this amazing person, one of the nicest people i have ever met. thank you for your service and your sacrifices you have made for this country bro you are a true hero.

    • former marine

I wish I lived in a world where war profiteers and corrupt politicians would hang for sending people like this man into combat so they're constituents can turn a profit. It's the absolute, dirty disgusting truth folks. They want all war, all the time and it needs to stop. Thumb me down, I couldn't give a fuck, it's true-

      • jas

when you post stuff like this you thumbed down or the administrator takes down the comment. when thats the case you have to wonder.

      • thatguy

I wish I lived in a world where fools like you kept their mouth's shut. You infer that this brave man, and the millions of others who do what he does are ignorant pawns being manipulated into the service of others. The TRUTH is that these people are brave and selfless and full of passion and purpose. That is why they choose to serve.

        • boll

a lot of people do it because its theyre best shot at decent employment and your allowed to realize that politicians have us in rediculous wars solely for their own profit without taking anything away from the soldiers themselves

          • boll

and im glad this guys getting some help because he seems like one of the good guys but lets not forget the thousands of other injured soldiers who came home to nothing and didnt get mass donations to build their dream house

        • j22

Are you saying that politicians only have noble reasons for starting wars?

        • former marine

on the contrary, I'm outraged that brave men like Morris are sent into combat by our corrupt government. You would realize that if you actually read my comment. On second thought, you wouldn't because you've never served, never been in a war zone and never taken the time to educate yourself about why we've been in active war zones now for the last 12 years with no viable outcome except wounded warriors and a shit ton of debt. Go fuck yourself you ignorant twat-

          • AllHailFormerMarine!

That's incredible that you know so much about world politics and what's really going on behind the scenes. It takes the President of the richest country in the world and the entire Congress utilizing uncountable agencies and other countries to make these kind of decisions. Well played! You should run for Emperor!

            • asdasd

Dude, it's not hard to see what former marine is talking about. It's in black and white on the page, but people refuse to see it. To quote my favorite book:

"People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool."

~Excerpt from "Wizard's First Rule" by Terry Goodkind

Anytime politics or religion is brought up(mostly politics), I see this truth demonstrated time and time again.

      • Former 2ID Soldier

Nothing says "I have a valid point" like ranting at inappropriate times. Now go back to your shanty. I got a $20 coming your way Taylor!!

        • I agree

when is it appropriate? You pathetic coward-

      • Chim Richels

I know plenty of people who have served (my dad included), and none of them refer to themselves as 'ex-marines'

        • former marine

You know people? Your dad? Well look out folks we have a badass over here! I am a former marine (I know the old saying there are no ex-marines, heard it a million times) and I'm just being honest about not being on active duty or able to fit into dress blues anymore. I stand by my comment, this country has reached a whole new level of corruption and people like Morris have paid dearly. You on the other hand never had the balls to sign up and sound like a complete pussy, unlike your pops-

          • Kristi

This convo just makes me sad. Please stop. You are ruining my optimism and faith in the world & humanity

            • stfu

awww, did the little baby just get her cherry popped? Grow up and face facts-

          • thatguy

Well clearly you MUST have the higher moral and intellectual ground because you called those who oppose you twats and pussies. Oh and also because you are a former marine (although your attitude suggests that title is derived from your days playing call of duty). However this flame war is as unfit for this thread honoring and supporting a brave marine as it would seem you are to share that title so i will recuse myself from it.

            • semper fi and out

You little bitch, you accused me of saying that marines/soldiers are pawns, but what I ACTUALLY SAID was politicians who send these brave people into to the combat zone for their own profit should hang. These aren't wars "defending" our nation, they're not "keeping us safe" and if you think otherwise you're part of the problem and not the solution. This man and many others like him shouldn't have lost limbs, but all you can do is say "thanks" and be on your merry way? ENOUGH OF THE FUCKIN ENDLESS WARS ALREADY YOU CORRUPT BASTARDS!

              • Dr. Chim Ritchels

Hey will all of you dumb asshats shut up?! No one values your opinion on the internet and you just look like idiots arguing about it on a page dedicated to helping a brave man.

              • abbymichel

I see nothing wrong with what you said. Apparently people have a hard time reading, or they twist it into something that makes them get their panties in a wad. Get over it people, he never said they were pawns, he simply stated that the politicians that send these men overseas for their own personal gain, should be hanged. That's it. Nothing more.

  • The Bacon Chronicles

    My god:(

I get paid on Friday – I'm bookmarking this. KCCO – I know we'll do this!

        • TIM

It is not how much you give but the fact that you care rnough to give something. All it takes is 100,000 people to give a dollar and this cabin is on its way to being paid for 100%!

        • Bumble

If everyone gave just one dollar….

    • HatBomb

By then you'll be helping out in the six figure range, ain't nothing wrong with that!

  • TLane21

Keep calm and get healthy! Everyone donate to this american hero and make his dream a reality!

    • bob

The man deserves a handout but what makes him a hero? Because he screwed up? He didn't throw himself on a bomb to save people. If a parent drowns trying to save a kid that is drowning he's not a hero, he screwed up. If you rush into a burning building and save people you're a hero. If the building collapses and kills you then you screwed up.

Amazing story. Thank you for your service from a fellow Iowan chiver

    • DM Iowan

Indeed. Chive on from yet another Iowan Chiver. Sorry for your loss, but you're an inspiration to the rest of us on how to truly KCCO.

    • blue_bronco

      Ditto from another Iowan

      • Mark

        and from another Iowan

  • Smaulz

F*cking Hard. Ass. Chive the hell on, brother. Digging out the CC as we speak.

  • AlbusQ

Thank you for your service and sacrifice Taylor. I'm in John. Let's do this

    • SpellCheck

… uhm, I don't mean to be a troll, but you've really got to learn the power of punctuation!

      For example:

"I'm in John" means something entirely different from "I'm in, John"

      See what I mean?

Yeah yeah, I know … here come the thumbs and they're all pointing down πŸ™

      • Hank

Gave you a thumbs up! πŸ™‚

      • Kim

Give it a rest. There's a time and a place to nag about grammar.

  • Ross

Great story, putting a $20 in the mail right now. I'm broke, but this guy and his family deserve it more than me.

    • Ricky_Ross

Good to see a fellow Ross with the same giving attitude

    • http://twitter.com/lukeskynski @lukeskynski

Right on! Shut up and take my money! πŸ™‚

This story touched me. Tugged at my heart strings and made me click the donate link.
Let's make this happen Chivers and Chivettes.

  • http://www.melissagodin.blogspot.com melissa

    Amazing. Donated!!

  • Ricky_Ross

#22 This is what life is about. A woman that will stand by you no matter what and a man that is willing to sacrifice everything to establish peace in this world. I would love to help you get back home and have a special place for you and your girlfriend. Donation is on it's way and I want to thank you for your service. One of the most inspirational stories I have ever heard.

  • http://www.facebook.com/reyes.santacruz.37 Reyes Santa Cruz

Lying there know death is around the corner telling his buddies to stay back is amazing, God spared a good soul! Chive on and get well.

  • MattyDeuce

So tough to get thru this story but so easy to try and help you and yours out. God bless you, Taylor, and your family. Stay strong and how about we, the Chivers rally around a hero? Let's make it happen!

  • Rob

That is a man right there!! A 100% true hero !!!

  • Bhodi

Can't thank you enough, Chive On!

  • Aksarben

An Omaha Chiver checking in and donating, thank you for your service and sacrifice. KCCO soldier!

  • Ryan Stewart

Down payment? Let's shoot to build this man a cabin.

    • albusq

I'm betting we could if we set our minds to it. True Chivers are the greatest people in the world.

    • https://www.facebook.com/mark.berthiaume Mark Berthiaume

      Exactly! …. donated.

    • mark

someone figure out the cost of cabin on property like he described and theChive should adjust the goal

      • TitoRigatoni

We don't need no steenking goal. We just keep on giving anyway.

    • Micks

I honestrly think that the Chive can make that happen, buy that cabin!

    • TitoRigatoni

Exactly this, fuck down payment. Let's buy the whole thing.

      • HatBomb

I think we are heading there as we speak… And that is by no means a bad thing.

    • pete

Yes, we should. Count me in.

    • Karl

I love how we all see how far past the goal we are, and instead of moving on, want to get a piece of the action and see how much more we can do.

    • Montana

      Agree. Totally agree.

But what is #21? Is that THE cabin they want, or an example to help us visualize what he wants?

Also, where was #22 taken? It looks cold, maybe even snow on the hills, and the crops haven't been planted yet.

      • Danny L

That's Iowa in the late fall. They're sitting in front of an already harvested corn field.

      • JLBugbee

I'm guessing Iowa. That's where his is from.

    • Teri

YESSSS! That what I say!! Build the thing.

      • Teri

PS I donated and shared. Please share in your networks.

    • Adam Tkaczuk

My thoughts exactly Ryan! And someone get him a KCCO shirt! (those things are hard to get).

  • whyme1973
