When the Steins joyously welcomed triplets Logan, Kaylee, and Griffin into the world, they received news that neither of them were prepared for. Their son Griffin was born without eyes. He had a rare genetic disorder called SOX2 Amophthalmia Syndrome, which in addition to blindness, came with a host of symptoms that would affect Griffin his entire life. Griffin needed to be fed through a feeding tube, would be restricted to a wheelchair, suffered significant hearing loss, and could not communicate.
Although their need for assistance was great, the Steins only asked for one thing: transportation. They needed an ADA vehicle that could safely transport their family of 5, including Griffin’s wheelchair. Chive Charities purchased an ADA van with a $35,000 grant from Chive Fund. However, there was still more we could do to help this special family.
