This time seven years ago, we launched a campaign on theCHIVE for a little girl with a strong heart and brittle bones. Her name was Zoe Lush. She had Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a rare genetic disorder that causes an under-mineralized bone structure. When we met her, at two years old, Zoe had broken nearly every bone in her tiny body. Insurance wasn’t covering Zoe’s essential needs… she needed help.
We didn’t know quite what to expect with Zoe’s flash charity campaign. While Chivers had recently established themselves as a powerhouse of goodwill, raising $250,000 for quad-amputee and Navy EOD tech Taylor Morris, this particular campaign was different. It was the official launch of Chive Charities and the beginning of what would become a beacon of light for underdogs with nowhere else to turn. It would come to define what makes theCHIVE different. Raising $100,000 in less than 3 hours for Zoe set the tone for the years to come.
