When Morgan Hartman was 12, her father, Gordon, noticed that she struggled to make friends at the pool. Gordon knew it was because Morgan has a form of autism that causes her to have the cognitive understanding of a 5-year-old.
The family told the BBC that they looked all over for a more accommodating water park, but found none. So Gordon decided to build his little girl her own — one designed to make everybody feel accepted, regardless of disability.
The park, which is called Morgan’s Inspiration Island, isn’t some rickety slide leading into a kiddie pool, either. It’s a full blown paradise:
