You might find this hard to believe, but I boxed competitively in the Canadian Amateur Circuits as a younger, less ‘thick’ Hendy.

While I certainly looked up to the likes of Ali, Pernell ‘Sweet Pea’ Whitaker, and Roy Jones Jr, the man that inspired me most in those days was Ricky “Hitman” Hatton, who sadly passed away a few days ago at the age of 46.

Known for his ruthless non-stop style of fighting, Ricky became a fan favourite in the British Boxing Scene from a young age. But it wasn’t only his boxing that made him so well-liked. Ricky was truly a man of the people.
