Zach: How rewarding was it going back and re-recording these songs? You just released Chroma 2025, and also getting Cassadee Pope back on board from Hey Monday. What was that experience like?

Will: It’s really cool to just kind of go back into the bag, go through all the files, and see everything that we did. Because a lot of that stuff gets lost when we’re not gonna be able to do it all live. So a lot of what our interpretation of songs is, is really just what we know from playing it the way we play it live.

So then having to go back and produce it again, but stay true to a lot of the stuff on the original – obviously just because it worked, don’t mess it up – it was really cool to go back in time to find little things that we were doing. So that’s been fun.

There’s been a really good reception to it – we really could have messed it up.

Zach: Yeah, you’re a little nervous.

Will: But everybody was like, “Dude, it sounds so good.” Like alright, cool. That was the point.

Zach: And then working with Cassadee, what was that like?

Will: I mean, Cassadee’s been a homie for a long time. Even pre-Chroma, because we met her when we did the tour with The Receiving End of Sirens and As Tall as Lions. I think it was like the winter of 2005.

So seeing her do her thing and have her own journey through the music industry has been fun. Just knowing her obviously and she’s a sweetheart. We had the female vocal at the end of the original “Q&A”, and that girl Julia was a homie back then. So I said, “Alright, well let’s get somebody we know who also shared this journey with us.

Zach: Yeah and she’s such a pioneer too, for the scene and the music, and she’s kind of unmatched in that sense.

Will: Yeah, it was really cool!
