Launched in July 1951 by Publishers Development Corp., Modern Man was first dubbed “The Picture Magazine for Men,” which became “The Man’s Picture Magazine,” and, finally landing on, “The Adult Picture Magazine.”
Much like its salacious successors Penthouse, Hustler, and Playboy, Modern Man catered to adult male readers, enticing them with alluring images of scantily clad women. (Sound familiar, Chivers?)
