I've been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, Italy for Carvivale, Germany for Oktoberfest, and Fasching season, but I've never been to Rio for Carvinale. That is my next stop, hopefully before I get too old. Because #5, #7 and #11, I gotta see, talk about fine!

I was in Ouro Preto (like a big college town) in 2002 where a lot of people from Rio go to get out of Rio during Carnival. It was ok but I wouldn't go there again. From what I understand and from what Brasileiros tell me, the best Carnival is in Bahia because there the party is on the streets with music from huge trucks stacked with speakers. In Rio and Ouro Preto, the best parties aren't open to the public, like they are in Bahia.
