- This man made hobbit house was built by LOTR enthusiast Steve Michaels and his wife Christine. It cost over $410,000 to make this house in the hills. However, unlike the simple homes featured in J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels, the Hobbit House of Montana comes with a modern king-size bedroom, a great kitchen with customized granite counters, HD Blu-Ray television set, XM Radio, three phones and WiFi. So I can Chive in peace. And if you want to vacation there it is a bit pricey at $245 a night.

I wish there were more pics, but from what's here, I love this. I just don't understand spending $410,000 to make it, then not live in it. That's like the motor heads who spend years rebuilding a classic car only to store it in the garage. Doesn't make sense to me.

I'm from the area and it was in the local paper over the weekend. It will only sell as a cash deal as it is extremely over price and you would not be able to get a conventional mortgage for it let alone insurance.
