Last Thursday we were on approach to the Denver Airport when Patty pointed out his window and exclaimed, “John, you have to see this.”
From 20,000 feet we had a breathtaking view of the wildfires sweeping across the dry Colorado brush. The fire line stretched as far as the eye could see, which from our vantage point, was rather far.
I decided then and there to donate the proceeds from all the meetup t-shirt sales to the Western Colorado Goodwill. That night I would meet Chivers whose houses were threatened by the blaze. Still, they arrived all smiles.
After we made the initial donation, I still felt like we could do more to help. The Colorado Chivers had been so welcoming of our band of misfits. On Monday, I spoke with Brian and Angie at Chive Charities and we decided to donate $10,000 to the Pikes Peak Community Foundation from the Chive Fund. Pike’s Peak Community Foundation recently announced an Emergency Relief Fund to support to the first responders and relief workers in the El Paso County.
For all the Chivers who support the Chive Fund, you’re certainly getting your money’s worth these days so to speak. Our capacity to help others is growing daily thanks to you. Our charitable spirit will be the lasting legacy of theCHIVE when our robot overlords take over. We can’t thank you enough.
Now let’s get to this bonkers meetup…
