Social media anxiety:
Keeping up appearances can be hard. Recent studies have shown social media creates feelings of self-consciousness and perfectionism.
The good news is that theCHIVE community doesn’t give a shit what you look like, only the fabric of your character. We might be the last great refuge for that sentiment.
The bad news is that the once-tranquil, self-discovery driven internet has now been replaced by giants like Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram.
People now use those platforms to discover and share content, and that carries some negative consequences. Your news feed only shows you what an algorithm thinks you want to see. So unless you consciously choose to visit theCHIVE or other publishers directly, this won’t get any better I fear. You’ll be missing out on our best stories and, instead, you’ll see only what Big Brother wants you to see.
What theCHIVE offers is some metaphysical anti-anxiety medication for the day. Just come here, take a 10-minute break from it all, and have a laugh.
