When a rabbit gets loose, the first thought is that it’s going to become a chew-toy for an overzealous dog. Which is why rabbit/great dane owner Meylin Hadad freaked out when she saw her bunny escape from her hutch into the backyard.
Hadad and her daughter raced to catch the rabbit before the Missy the great dane could, but before they could get to her the dog had already chased the escapee down.
Luckily Missy is a giant (as in massive) ball of love.
“I’m like, OK, that’s it,” Hadad said. “But when I got there, nothing had happened. She had grabbed the rabbit, but she was just holding her on the ground with her mouth. Her teeth weren’t even touching her. And when I picked up the rabbit, she started licking her. After that, I’m like, OK— this dog will never hurt anything.”
