Chris Hemsworth’s character in Cabin in the Woods is the bad guy
I’ll admit, when I first heard about this movie, I was a little bit shocked that Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard would make a horror film that was so stereotypical. But once I actually sat down to watch it, I was hooked. It takes all those horror tropes and turns them on their head, placing the nubile teenagers in a manufactured situation, being played like puppets by a group called Facility. It all seems pretty straightforward, until you start looking closely at Hemsworth’s character Curt. He does some shady things, and one fan on Reddit suspects that he was their inside man.
It turns out, it was his idea to go to the cabin in the first place, claiming that it was his cousin’s, but in actuality, he might not have said cousin. He also seems to do everything in his power to get them there asap, get’s his girlfriend alone so she can get killed, and then when they’re downstairs looking at artifacts, while everyone else grabs one, he grabs two, as if he’s looking for a specific thing. Finally, when he’s trying to drive the RV to safety, he drive just slow enough, that the Facility can blow the tunnel.
In the end, the theory goes that he was told he’d be the hero, which is why he thinks he can take the motorcycle and jump the canyon, but instead gets double crossed, and splattered all over the inside of a wall. Ouch.
