Listen, we all have that friend on Facebook, or whatever, who’s always training for something and talks about this marathon and that marathon and you wonder if they’ve been losing their marbles while they’ve been training.
As it turns out, marathoners are a special breed and when asked why they like running for 42km/26 miles straight, they’ll give you a wide bunch of answers that sadly make sense. On top of the physiological and psychological benefits of exercise, there’s also the events themselves. These races are the best and most popular out there, due to the geography/location, the organization of said event and even the volunteers/spectators that surround you. Some say it’s a transcendent experience.
Might make it worth the chaffed thighs, sore muscles and cracked nipples.
